Wedgwood Octagonal Majolica 'Email Ombrant' Dancing Putti Plate c1867

A superb Wedgwood majolica plate with a central panel of dancing putti using the 'email ombrant' technique. The design is moulded in low relief then given depth through a coating of translucent glaze. Framed with a 'treacle' glaze garlanded border. In great condition, with the usual micro-crazing of the glaze. A fine example of this skilful process. Impressed 'Wedgwood' with date code. Width 23cm (9.1in)
