A fantastic Wedgwood majolica plate nicely modelled as a scallop shell with a mottled glaze in brown, ochre and light blue. Usually mottled in green, the blue is a rarer colour variation. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear. Some fine age related crazing typical of these wares though nothing to detract from the display value of this lovely example of mid-Victorian pottery. Impressed WEDGWOOD and date letters for May 1867. Width 21.75cm (8.6in)
