Thought to have been Introduced in 1814, this rare design is seldom seen. It shows a woodman with axe talking to a seated woman who is holding a baby. Based on an engraving by Francis Eginton published in 1807, the scene is framed by a border of stylised leaves and flowers. Printed in medium blue with a lovely rippled glaze and finely potted with no foot rim. A superb example in excellent condition; no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. Printed SPODE in underglaze blue and impressed SPODE 3. Diameter 25cm (9.9in)
