Information
About 50 years earlier than the famous Burleigh Ware art deco squirrel jugs, this Victorian example uses the same theme, though the handle is modelled as a seahorse. They chose the pattern name of 'nuts' (see image 4). A lovely 'aesthetic style' hexagonal jug exemplifying the 1870s/1880s fashion. In excellent condition, it has a sepia print, hand-tinted in colours to enhance it, with maroon lining on the handle, rim and spout . Early Hill Pottery Beehive mark c1880. Height 16.5cm (6.5in)
