Thomas Dimmock 'Chevy Chase' Sauce Tureen Stand c1835

Stock Status: In Stock
Information
Part of a rare dinner service showing scenes of a skirmish between hunters from the Percy and Douglas families which took place near Otterburn in Northumberland. Various hunting scenes are used and this lovely small tureen stand has hunters setting out with greyhounds. Printed on stoneware, it's in excellent condition, with only micro-crazing of the glaze which doesn't detract. Unmarked, though a few pieces are known to have the Percy and Douglas shields with 'Chevy Chase', 'STONEWARE' and 'D' (for Thomas Dimmock of Hanley 1828-59). Length 20cm (7.9in)
