A superb and early hand painted Susie Cooper studio plate, the design first shown at the Dorland Hall Exhibition of British Industrial Art in the summer of 1933. An earthenware plate painted in underglaze black and brown enamel colours with a green glaze. A rare design showing Susie Cooper's approach to the modernist movement. In excellent condition, with some slight glaze crazing only really noticed under magnification. Painted 'Susie Cooper' signature and '618' with impressed date code for June 1933. Diameter 20.5cm (8in)
