A superb Gray's sugar box with silver plated cover and extending tongs. Boldly painted in red, yellow, green, brown and black in geometric pattern number 8127 designed by Susie Cooper in the 1920s. Described in the pattern books as 'Abstract and Jazz Modern' and subsequently named 'Overlapping Triangles' or 'Pyramids' by collectors. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear. Slight crazing to the base underneath, typical of these wares and nothing to detract. Gray's Pottery 2nd Galleon mark. Height with cover 10.2cm (4in)
