A fine early majolica plate by Wedgwood with a pierced greek key border and mottled 'tortoiseshell' centre. Strong, bright colours and in excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Fine overall natural age crazing (noticed under a magnifying glass), but rare to find in such good order. A classic piece of Wedgwood. Impressed 'Wedgwood' and potter's year mark 'GSU' for 1866.
