A rare series first introduced by Royal Doulton in 1911. When Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922 the words 'Tutankhamen's Treasures Luxor' were added to the designs shortly afterwards. The series was subsequently withdrawn by 1929. This superb Concord shape jug is perfect for the design of various ancient Egyptians carrying or presenting vases. A lovely sepia print with the detail hand painted in greens, orange and yellow, and a border of stylised papyrus. In excellent condition. Printed Royal Doulton and painted pattern number D3419. Height 18.5cm (7.25in)
