Superb Quality Antique Baccarat Green and Gilded Glass Dish + Cover c1880

A fine quality glass bowl and cover on a clear footed stem. Beautifully ribbed and the applied knop on the lid is clear and facet cut. It also has a cut slot for a large spoon or ladle as it was probably intended to serve cream, compotes or sauces. The outside of the bowl is hand gilded with floral swags and the cover has swags and elaborate scrolls. Burnished gold has been used and is raised in places to add incredible depth. In great condition and a marvellous example of hand made and hand decorated luxury glass. Unmarked though probably Baccarat. Overall height 23cm (9in), bowl diameter 14.5cm (5.6in)
