A rare pie or baking dish from the 'Monk's Rock' series, considered to be one of Mintons finest engraved patterns. 'Monk's Rock' has ten known rural scenes and is named after the first scene to be identified. Printed in medium blue this fine dish features a farm settlement with three cottages, one of which has three beehives in front, and a cart and horse in the foreground. A deep border of floral sprays on a stippled ground frames this beautifully. The reverse repeats the border around the base. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear. Fine blue rippled glaze. Unmarked (which is often the case with this series) except for an underglaze '4' in blue. Length 28.5cm (11.25in), depth 4.5cm (1.75in)
