Information

A stunning Staffordshire lustre jug in an unusual four cornered shape with moulded ribbing and flowers round the rim. In a cream/buff coloured body and probably based on a silver shape, there are three panels depicting cottage scenes. It's in remarkably good condition for it's age, with only a couple of minor chips/scuffs (see picture 5), but no cracks or restoration. It's basically a good 'honest' piece with gentle wear which only enhances the fine antique character. The same shape is illustrated Michael Gibson's '19th Century Lustre Ware' (page 50, plate 38), though the embossed flower border has been left plain. Unmarked, but possibly George Weston of Lane End. Height 13.25cm (5.25in)
