Superb Clarice Cliff Bizarre Autumn 'Crocus' Athens Teapot c1930 (Sold)

A large and impressive Athens teapot beautifully painted with autumn crocus. A lovely shape which shows this classic design to maximum effect. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear - looks like it's hardly been used. Rare to find in this condition. 'CROCUS, Bizarre by Clarice Cliff' and the seldom seen Brice Rogers Cottage Pottery* marks with size number 24 (6 cup). Overall length 27cm (10.6in)

*Based in Beckenham, Brice Rogers were retailers of quality ceramics and like Lawley's of Regent Street a special backstamp was added to the standard Bizarre marks.
