Sorry, this item is no longer available

A stunning Spode's New Stone indented dinner plate in an early 'Japan' pattern, reminiscent of contemporary Mason's patterns or the slightly later 'Amherst Japan' pattern. Underglaze blue print, with masses of overpainting by hand - iron red, cobalt blue, turquoise and leaf green, highlighted with rich gilding in excellent order. Indeed the plate is in 1st class condition, showing little sign of wear in its 180+ years. One of two I have for sale - rare to find in this condition. Impressed 'Spode's New Stone' and painted number 3875 (by 1824 the Spode pattern books were up to 4000). Diameter 24cm (9.5in)
