A finely potted Spode indented shape plate printed in medium blue with the Gothic Castle pattern introduced around 1814. An interesting transitional design incorporating both Chinese and European elements, whilst the border has vignettes of Chinese scenes and various animals including an elephant and a giraffe. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration. A rare size to find in this pattern, especially in such good order and marked Spode as many pieces are unmarked. Impressed Spode 9.
