Sowerby Queen's Ware Glass 'Peacock' Footed Bowl c1876

The glass collector and expert Cyril Manley called this shape and design 'the elite' of Queen's Ware, which Sowerby's patented in 1876. The colour was registered as 'ivory'. It's a vitro-porcelain mixture, and this aesthetic movement design incorporates a frieze of flowers and peacocks and was probably based on a Walter Crane or Kate Greenaway motif. On four feet and with two angular handles, this little gem is in great condition and a good cream colour. Fully marked, though difficult to photograph, with trademark and diamond registration for 1876. Height 5.5cm (2.3in)

Our Price: £80.00
