Information

Queen's Ware was patented by Sowerby in 1876, the colour registered as 'ivory'. It's a vitro-porcelain mixture and the aesthetic movement design of this piece incorporates a frieze of flowers and peacocks and was probably based on a Walter Crane or Kate Greenaway motif. This unusual little basket was made by drawing together the two handles of a footed bowl while the glass was still soft. In great condition and a good cream colour. Fully marked inside with peacock trademark and diamond registration for 1876. Length 9cm (3.5in)
