A lovely purple malachite glass salt in the form of a Sussex trug type basket - shape number 1267 in the Sowerby 1880 catalogues. Finely ribbed, it has good 'marbling' and colours. In excellent condition, with only a couple of small 'pit' marks from the molding near the top of the handle. Nothing to detract from this rare shape. Sowerby peacock trademark and diamond registration for 20 November 1877. Length 10.5cm (4.1in)
