Sowerby Flint Glass 'Elizabeth, Elspeth, Betsy & Bess' Posy Trough c1875

This rare flint glass lozenge shaped posy trough works particularly well in clear glass. The Walter Crane inspired design (from 'An Alphabet of Old Friends' children's book published in 1874) shines through. Sometimes in opaque colours the design is often obscured. The nursery rhyme range has always been one of the most collected and rarest of Sowerby and this fine posy holder will not disappoint. In good condition with minimal signs of wear. Sowerby peacock trademark to base. Length 16cm (6.3in), height 6.4cm (2.5in)
