(Sold) Unusual Staffordshire Ironstone China Dragon Handled Jug c1825

An early Staffordshire ironstone jug. Octagonal in shape with a dragon handle (in the style of Mason's 'Fenton shape') and decorated with very unusual vertical stripes and zigzags in blue, green, red and copper lustre. In excellent condition for its age. There are some minor signs of wear with some flaking of the green on the handle, but nothing major in the way of chips or cracks. It's a beautiful jug with loads of character and rare decoration. Impressed 'Ironstone China' and potter's mark 'X'. Height 11.5cm (4.5in)
