Small Mason's Patent Ironstone China Chinoiserie 'Conversation' Hydra Jug c1830 (Sold)

An early Mason's Hydra jug, richly decorated in the 'Conversation' pattern with vignettes of Chinese figures in a garden. The underglaze transfer is overpainted by hand in orange, rose madder, green, yellow and cobalt. The rim and handle are highlighted with soft orange lustre typical of the period. A fine example in excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little signs of wear. Printed early Mason's crown mark. Height 11cm (4.25in)
