Shelley Hilda Cowham 'A Hunting We Will Go' Child's Nursery Ware Set c1925 (Sold)

A rare Hilda Cowham child's 4 piece nursery set designed for Shelley. Comprising a cup, saucer, plate and bowl printed and hand enamelled with a little boy and girl on their wooden horses, the theme repeated as a border. The reverse of the cup with the rhyme 'A hunting we will go! Though our horses are made of wood, They are always very good. Tally ho! Tally ho! A hunting we will go!'. Hand painted orange trim. All four items in excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and no sign of wear. Lovely to find in such good order. 'H Cowham' signatures with 'Shelley China, England' marks and registration number 709691 (first series of her designs introduced in 1924). Diameter of plate 15cm (6in)
