A superb jug by Samuel Alcock finely moulded with scenes of a woodland gypsy encampment featuring a cauldron over a camp fire and a family with children and dog. Using a white parian body which has been given a light satin glaze, the detail is remarkable and condition is excellent. No chips, cracks or restoration. Rare to find in such good order. Impressed 'Published by S Alcock & Co. Burslem July 1st 1842'. Overall height 15.25cm (6in)
