Royal Doulton Under the Greenwood Tree - Robin Hood Fruit Set c1929

A superb Royal Doulton fruit or dessert set from Under the Greenwood Tree series comprising a large serving bowl and six individual bowls. Lovely Dorothy shape with moulded fruit on the corners - rarely seen, especially a complete set. The large dish shows the men 'Under the Greenwood Tree', while three small dishes show 'The Jovial Friar Joins Robin Hood' and the other three 'Robin Hood & Little John'. In great condition; no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration - only point to mention is one of the small bowls (The Jovial Friar) has slight rubbing on one green edge, probably from stacking as the set generally looks as if it's hardly been used. Still a rare find, especially in such good order. Displays beautifully. Special 'Under the Greenwood Tree' and Royal Doulton backstamps. Large bowl date impressed 1929. Width large 24.25cm (9.6in), small 16.75cm (6.6in)
