A lovely Royal Doulton child's mug featuring nursery rhyme characters from designs by William Savage Cooper. The mug illustrates 2 rhymes from series A - Mother Goose and Where are you going to my pretty maid? A fine cream earthenware with high quality coloured transfers, this was the first nursery ware series introduced by Doulton in 1903. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. A rare shape to find, especially in such good order. Royal Doulton backstamp, registration number 764873 and painted series number D5187. Height 9.5cm (3.75in)
