A Royal Doulton rack plate featuring scene 9 from the Early Motoring series designed by George Holdcroft. Two motorists checking under the bonnet of their motor outside the Chequers Inn watched by a bemused country yokel in a smock. Lovely sunset and woodland landscape border. In great condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. There is some mild crazing and a couple of small stains in the glaze (at 7 o'clock), though nothing really to detract and priced with this in mind. Still a rare plate that displays beautifully. Printed Royal Doulton, England mark with painted D2406. Diameter 26.5cm (10.4in)
