A lovely hand coloured Royal Doulton 'Early Motoring' dished plate featuring scene 2 ('Deaf') of 9 known comic views of veteran motoring by George Holdcroft. A group of agitated motorists have ended up hitting a bank trying to avoid an elderly gentlemen who strolls on in the middle of the road oblivious to it all. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration. Rare to find this shape plate in this series, especially in such good order. Printed Royal Doulton, England mark and painted series number D2406. Diameter 23.5cm (9.25in)
