A quality creamware jug by William Ratcliffe, New Hall Works, Hanley (fl.1831-1840). Finely potted cream body printed in deep cobalt blue with chinoiserie figures in a garden with pavillion and pagoda, the detail enhanced with hand painted pink and green enamelling. A lovely additional feature is the blue striped handle. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration. Rare to find early pieces like this in such good order. Printed underglaze blue mark of an R surrounded by a sunburst. Height 8.25cm (3.25in)
