Rare Wedgwood Turquoise Majolica Fish Plate c1873 (Sold)

A superb Wedgwood majolica plate with three relief moulded trout on a bright turquoise background, surrounded by reeds and fronds of water plants. Rich olive metallic glazes highlighted with pink give the fish a naturalistic shimmer. A fine example in excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Very rare to find in such good order. Impressed 'Wedgwood' and date code for 1873. Diameter 22.25cm (8.75in)
