Information
A superb hydra (snake handled) jug in feldspar bone china, first introduced by Spode in the early 1820s. The addition of feldspar to the body produced a fine quality and hard wearing china which Spode called 'Felspar Porcelain'. The jug is crisply moulded and the 'famille rose' enamels work beautifully on the pure white body. The design depicts six Chinese figures collecting sprays of blossom in a garden landscape*. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks, stains or restoration. All the enamelling is intact as is the 'old gold' line around the base. Printed 'Spode, Felspar Porcelain' mark with painted pattern number 3644. Height 15.2cm (6in)
