Rare Sowerby Purple Malachite Slag Glass 'Gladstone Bag' Wall Pocket c1880

A fine Sowerby purple malachite glass wall pocket modelled as an open Gladstone Bag. Lovely 'marbling' and crisp detail (you can even see the buckles and straps). Illustrated in the 1882 pattern book, shape 1240. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or repairs. Rare to find, especially in such good order. Sowerby peacock trademark and diamond registration for 18 September 1877 underneath. Width 9cm (3.6in)
