Rare Shelley Hilda Cowham Cased Nursery Ware Christening Set 'Fairies Here, Fairies There' c1925

A super rare Hilda Cowham cased presentation set designed for Shelley. The fine leather bound case containing a child's dish hand enamelled with a little girl making flower garlands helped by fairies, the theme continued round the border with fairies holding garlands. The set also contains a hallmarked silver knife, fork and spoon of a lovely quality and weight. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks, restoration. The dish signed 'Hilda Cowham' to the front, with 'Shelley China, England' and registration number 709690 (the first series of her designs introduced in 1924) to the reverse. The silver pieces with 1925 Sheffield hallmarks and maker's marks for Cooper Brothers & Sons (1916-46). The silk lining of the lid with retailer Edward Ewen of Dumfries & London.
