Information
A finely potted plate by Joseph Sewell (St. Anthony's Pottery, Newcastle upon Tyne) printed in medium blue with a lovely rural scene featuring a cow drinking from a stream in the foreground, a central figure of the milkmaid and cow, a dog and a woman with a basket on her head walking along a path that leads to a village in the distance and sheep grazing on a hill in the background. Framed by a pretty border of wild flowers on a stippled ground, it's in excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear. A rare item to find, especially in such good order. Impressed SEWELL. No foot rim. Diameter 24.5cm (9.6in)
