Information
A lovely set of four green majolica dessert or soup dishes with a central panel picturing an alpine scene of figures attending church in the foreground with a lake, town and mountains in the distance. Framed by a distinctive border of scrolls with various animals and jousting knights in gothic revival style. The émail ombrant technique of filling the low relief design with glaze is used to give depth and enhance the detail. In great condition - no chips, cracks or restoration. Some stilt marks and minor age related crazing associated with majolica, but nothing to detract from the display value of this rare set. Impressed WEDGWOOD and date codes for 1888. Diameter 22.25cm (8.75in)
