A superb 'Pansies' cake or sandwich tray, described in the Doulton shape books as a Slice Tray (shape 7979) - the shape complementing the design beautifully. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear. Some mild overall age related crazing, but nothing to detract and really only noticed on close inspection. A rare shape to find in Pansies, especially in such good order. Printed Royal Doulton mark with impressed shape number 7979, date for 1934 and painted pattern reference D4049. Overall length 23.5cm (9.25in)
