Information

A large 7131 vase in the shape of an ivy clad tower with buttresses featuring a scene from The Jackdaw of Rheims written by Richard Harris Barham in 1840. It concerns a cheeky Jackdaw who steals the Cardinal's ring but returns it when he suffers from a curse put on the thief. He then becomes so pious he is canonised on his death. This rare vase depicts the Cardinal 'drawing off each plum coloured shoe'. In great condtion; no chips, cracks or restoration. Some mild staining to the inside from use, but nothing to detract and still displays beautifully. Printed Royal Doulton mark with painted pattern number D2532 and incised shape number 7131. Height 21.5cm (8.5in)
