A large and impressive hand coloured Royal Doulton 'Early Motoring' shape 7110 pitcher featuring scene 3 of 9 known comic views of veteran motoring by George Holdcroft. 'A Horse! A Horse!' depicts a motorist and two passengers with their vehicle in a ditch stopping a drover with his cart and horses to ask for his help. The rim has a lovely deep border of a woodland landscape at sunset. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks, or restoration. Very rare to find, especially in such good order. Printed and impressed Royal Doulton marks, impressed shape number and painted series number D2406. Height 37cm (14.5in)
