Rare Royal Doulton Daily Mirror 'Pip, Squeak and Wilfred' Child's Plate c1932

Based on the Daily Mirror comic strip, this Royal Doulton series was only produced from 1927 to 1935. Featuring Pip the dog, Squeak the penguin and Wilfred the rabbit created by Uncle Dick (B J Lamb) and drawn by A B Payne, this scarce tea plate shows scene three of five 'What is it Wilfred? Don't hold on to my bag like that!'. Hand coloured and in excellent condition, not even crazed. Rare to find, especially in such good order. Printed Royal Doulton mark with Daily Mirror underneath, painted series no. D4741 and date impressed for February 1932. Diameter 16.25cm (6.4in)
