Rare Minton 'Chinese Marine' Sauce Tureen c1830 (Sold)

A lovely Minton octagonal sauce tureen with four lion's paw feet, scrolled handles and gadrooned edges. Finely printed in medium blue with an oriental scene of pagodas and figures in a harbour landscape. Part of the design is also printed inside the tureen base - a nice finishing touch. In excellent condition, showing little sign of wear apart from a couple of minor glaze 'rubs' to the finial. Rare to find, especially in such good order. Printed ''Chinese Marine' in a cartouche with a cursive 'M' and OPAQUE CHINA. Length with handles 17cm (6.7in)
