Information
A lovely 'Benevolent Cottagers' or 'Hospitality' pearlware oval dessert or chestnut basket and stand. Printed in medium blue with a charming rural scene depicting a group of children and a woman offering food to a resting traveller. Taken from a painting 'The Benevolent Cottagers' by Sir Augustus Wall Callcott RA (1779-1844), both pieces are beautifully printed and the basket work is hand coloured in cobalt blue. In great antique condition - no chips, cracks or restoration. For accuracy, the stand has a couple of grazes to the outside edge though nothing serious to detract from the display value of these rare items. Finely rippled blue pearlware glaze. Unmarked as is usual with this pattern. Length of stand 26cm (10.25in)
