Rare Grimwades WW1 Bruce Bairnsfather Old Bill Cheese Dish c1918

A fine Grimwades 'Old Bill' cheese dish with three Bruce Bairnsfather cartoons featuring 'Well if you knows of a better 'ole, go to it', 'Where did that one go to?' and 'Dear _ At Present We Are Staying At A Farm'. First World War tank flying Union Jack next to the handle. Printed in sepia with Bruce Bairnsfather and BB signatures. In great condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Rubbing of the gilt edge around the base, typical of these wares and nothing to detract. A rare item to find, especially in such good order. Cover printed inside with Old Bill caricature backstamp. Length of base 15.2cm (6in)
