A superb George Jones majolica stand in the form of a central flower surrounded by lily pads. Mounted on a decorative gilded bronze tripod stand with stylised cranes and swaggers of flowers. A stunning and rare piece in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or restoration, with only some minor glaze wear to the high points of the flower. Early painted number 2245 (entered in the George Jones pattern books as 'Waterlilies dessert set; centrepiece, low comport, elevated comport and dessert plates'). Impressed Registration Diamond for 9th March 1869, parcel number 1 (design patent numbers 227743/4 issued to George Jones, Stoke). Diameter 22.9cm (9in), height 8cm (3.12in)
