A lovely first series Shakespearean Characters jug depicting Shylock from 'The Merchant of Venice'. Introduced in 1912 with a background in various colour washes. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Nice early shape that displays beautifully. An unusual item; rare to find in such good order. Printed 'Royal Doulton, England' with 'Shylock' and painted D3596. Height 7.75cm (3in)
