Information
A very unusual pouring dish with 'spout' by Davenport in the Chinoiserie High Bridge pattern. The series is mainly known from a few examples of dessert dishes and although dinner wares are known, shapes like this are rare. A development of 'Chinese' patterns, the scene depicts a high bridge leading to a pagoda with a group of chinese figures on a landing signalling to a passing boat - framed by a border of flowers and leaves. In great condition - no chips, cracks or restoration although there is all over age related staining (more noticeable to the reverse). Still it displays well for an item over two hundred years old and a fine example of early Davenport. Impressed lower case 'Davenport' (used 1793-1810). Length 23.5cm (9.2in).
