Rare Clarice Cliff Original Bizarre 'Orange Diamonds' Perth Jug c1929 (Sold)

An early Clarice Cliff original Bizarre Perth shape jug painted with an unusual geometric design of orange diamonds outlined in black and framed by orange and black banding. A stunning example in excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear (some minor crazing underneath to the base, really only noticed under close scrutiny). A rare design on a classic old Newport Pottery shape. Early black 'Bizarre by Clarice Cliff' mark with impressed size number '30' (the 2nd largest of four sizes produced - 24s, 30s, 36s and 42s - referring to the number that would fit on a shelf in the kiln). Height 13cm (5.1in)
