Rare Clarice Cliff Bizarre 'Coral Firs' Biarritz Tea Plate c1934 (Sold)

The Biarritz shape, although the epitome of art deco design, was difficult to fire as pieces tended to warp in the kiln and wastage was high. This lovely Bizarre 'Coral Firs' tea plate is unusual as most Biarritz plates seem to be in the large dinner size. Finely painted and in excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Lithographed signature 'Bizarre by Clarice Cliff, Wilkinson Ltd, England' and printed Biarritz mark with impressed date for 1934. Width 18.4cm (7.25in)
