A superb 'Acrobats' plate from the Circus range designed by Dame Laura Knight and produced in the Bizarre workshop as part of the Art in Industry project. Finely printed in purple with hand enamelled detail and highlights in yellow, green, orange and black. The central image of three male acrobats is framed by a purple band and a border representing circus crowds in a big top - the entrance curtain drawn back to reveal a clown against a starry sky. The rim finished in best gold. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear or use. Rare to find as only a few sets were sold because it was so expensive to produce. Printed 'Laura Knight' signature and 'Produced in Bizarre by Clarice Cliff, Wilkinson Ltd' with 'Copyright reserved' and impressed date for May 1935. Diameter 23cm (9in)
