A rare dessert plate made by Brameld at the Rockingham Works, Swinton, Yorkshire. The full pattern name is 'Castle of Rochefort South of France' and is best known as the port from which Napoleon sailed into exile in 1815. Printed in medium blue with a couple in regency dress in the foreground and a mountainous scene with castle and waterfall in the distance. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Fine age related glaze crazing seen mainly through magnification and nothing to detract. Impressed Brameld within an oval floral wreath. Diameter 20.75cm (8.15in)
