Rare Barker Bros 'Arabesque' Art Deco Vase by John Guildford c1928
A large and absolutely stunning 'Arabesque' vase designed by John Guildford for Barker Brothers of Longton. Hand painted with stylised 'sgraffito' red pyramids and elongated trees in green, blue, yellow and mauve against a bright orange ground. Deep bands of blue to the rim and base make a striking contrast. In excellent order; no chips, cracks or restoration and no oxidising of the blue or flaking of the enamels. A very rare item (John Guildford's designs are usually only seen on tea and coffee wares) in remarkable condition. Printed Barker Bros 'Arabesque by John Guildford' signature. Height 30.75cm (12.1in)
