Information

A fine dinner plate by James & Ralph Clews of Cobridge (1817-1834) depicting a river scene with an angler and boat delivering large jars in the foreground, with a fort, domed tower and bridge in the distance. The border consists of flowers and leaves on a blue background. Slightly indented shape, in excellent condition. Unmarked, but one or two marked 'Clews' pieces known (cf. Coysh 'Blue & White Transfer Ware 1780-1840' page 24/25). Diameter 24.75cm (9.75in)
